Magical Weight Loss Basics
Treat the causes, not the symptom. Obesity is considered a disease, but it is usually a symptom of something deeper.
Are you over-eating because you’re bored? Cast spells/do energy-work/pray to support having more fun in your life!
Are you lonely? Do a spiritual practice for attracting friendship, love, or even just for energy/bravery to get out of the house and meet new people!
Do you have a job that is mentally/physically/emotionally exhausting and it leaves you without the energy to be active? Do spell work for energy, motivation, and healing!
Are you an empath who absorbs the pain of others and is creating physical shielding subconsciously to keep the pain out? Develop practices that help you master your gift! It is possible to use your empathy to lose weight instead of gain it when you harness it correctly!
Are you experiencing some other injury or dis-ease that prevents you from being active? Do healing magick, call on the higher ups of your spiritual practice (Angels, Saints, Goddesses, Gods, Boddhisatvas, etc.), and most importantly--ask for help!
Whatever your reason/s is/are, sometimes it’s hard to do all of this—or even any of this—by yourself. Even if you don’t seek out my help, find someone to help you! Good luck and success to you always, because no matter what, you are amazing!!
Other Magical Tricks for Weight Loss
Dragon's Blood Bubble Bath
This trick is my favorite. The simple label you will find on most dragon's blood bubble bath is usually "uncrossing." When you look up Dragon's Blood in magic books, you also read properties of: energy, exorcism, good luck, love, money, potency, protection, purification, removing hexes, removing jinxes, warding off evil, and more (Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, D. J. Conway's A Little Book of Candle Magic and Dancing with Dragons, and Catherine Yronwode's Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic). In modern society, one could look at being overweight as being jinxed or crossed—it can feel like everyone and everything from the checker at the supermarket to the latest spam in your email is judging you harshly. Then there is the judgment you direct at yourself when looking in a mirror. That is a lot of negativity to overcome, and I personally use Dragon's Blood Bubble Bath as a way to remove that destructive energy. Since it can be a daily problem, I use a little of it every day. Plus, who couldn't use a little more money (getting healthy is expensive), love (from self and others), energy (for exercise and motivation), protection (please let only healthy food turn up in my path), and good luck (every little bit counts) for getting healthy?
The Moon
Since the Moon's size grows and shrinks, its energy easily backs weight loss. Use the energy of the Waxing Moon to increase healthy habits, motivation, energy, and self love. Use the Waning Moon to get rid of unhealthy habits, excuses, pain that holds you back, and the excess weight itself.
Tarot Cards
In addition to their traditional use, tarot cards can also be used in magic spells. Just think about what you want and what card might help you. One could use Strength for self control or weight training. I use the Six of Cups, The World, and The Sun for creating pleasure, success, and happiness so that I don't get bored or stressed enough to overeat. You could use the Death card in laying to rest your reasons for over-eating or even for transforming your body to a healthier state, since the Death card's true meaning is transformation.
Water
Putting aside all the perfectly accurate scientific reasoning why water is so important to weight loss, water can be further enchanted to support you on a spiritual level. Water as an element rules emotions—which are often tied to reasons we overeat (I am no exception to that).
There are many wonderful ways to use water for weight loss. I draw symbols on the condensation on water glasses for weight loss and success.
I also spin the water-glass counter-clockwise to unravel excess weight to be released.
I also employ a simplified version of the Kala Rite from the Feri tradition to remove negative energy from fat cells so that one’s body is more willing to release them. Essentially, you take a cup of water and breathe into it all of your negative and blocked energy. Then you visualize breathing divine purifying energy to bless the water. After it is purified, you drink it back in to reabsorb your now blessed energy. I learned the Kala Rite from Storm Faerywolf, and I have enclosed a link to his wonderful website where he describes the Kala Rite in more detail. http://www.feritradition.com/grimoire/practices/practices_kalarite.htm
